What sets me apart in childcare is the personalized attention, genuine connection, and intentional, play-based learning environment I provide. As a small, home-based provider, I’m able to truly get to know each child and family, tailoring care to meet individual needs while fostering a warm, family-like atmosphere. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices that support whole-child development, emotionally, socially, and academically, through hands-on experiences and meaningful routines. I prioritize communication, trust, and consistency, and I treat every child with the same level of care and respect I would want for my own. Families value the calm, safe, and enriching space I’ve created, where children can thrive and parents feel confident and supported every step of the way.

We offer a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where children are cared for and supported throughout their day. We provide supervision, healthy meals, and assistance with daily routines such as feeding, diapering or toileting, and nap time. Each day includes age-appropriate activities designed to support learning, creativity, and social development, with a focus on building school readiness through play-based and structured learning. I help children develop important social skills through group interaction and guided play, and I maintain open communication with families through daily updates and regular check-ins. I also offer additional support such as potty training, flexible hours, and enrichment activities like art, early STEM, and occasional field trips. Health and safety are always a top priority, with a clean, childproofed space and up-to-date CPR and first aid certification.

About Us

Our program is inspired by the findings of leading child development experts, including a landmark Stanford University study, which emphasizes the benefits of play-based learning in early childhood education. According to this research, play not only fosters curiosity and creativity but also enhances executive function, problem-solving skills, and emotional regulation, key predictors of long-term academic and life success.

Hi, I’m Heather! Before opening my childcare program, I spent over 15 years working in the dental field and 10 years serving with the State of California, careers that taught me the importance of precision, patience, and building trust. I’m also a proud mom of two and a very happy grandmother to my first grandchild, which has deepened my passion for nurturing children and supporting families. Creating a safe, loving, and enriching environment for little ones feels like a natural extension of who I am. My goal is to provide each child in my care with the same warmth, attention, and encouragement I give my own family, because when children feel safe and supported, they thrive.

Curriculum

Motor Skills Development:

Both fine and gross motor skills are honed through activities such as drawing, building with blocks, dancing, and outdoor play. These activities help children improve hand-eye coordination, balance, and overall physical strength.

Social-Emotional Development:

We encourage positive interactions and emotional growth through group activities, role-play, and collaborative tasks. Children learn empathy, teamwork, and effective communication, all while building lasting friendships.

Creativity and Expression:

Through art, music, and imaginative play, children explore their creativity and self-expression. These activities foster imagination, emotional expression, and an appreciation for the arts, all of which contribute to a well-rounded educational experience..

Cognitive Development:

Children engage in activities that stimulate their curiosity and problem-solving abilities. This includes hands-on learning with puzzles, games, and early literacy activities, helping to build critical thinking and early academic skills.

Our Classes

At Blume & Play, we tailor our care and activities to meet the developmental needs of each age group:

Infants (6-12 months):

We focus on creating a nurturing and secure environment, supporting early development through gentle routines, tummy time, sensory play, and lots of cuddles.

Toddlers (1-2 years):

We encourage curiosity and independence through hands-on exploration, simple art projects, language development, music, and movement, all in a safe and loving space.

Preschoolers (3-5 years):

We offer structured learning through play-based curriculum, preparing children for kindergarten with early literacy, math, science, art, and social-emotional learning.

School-Age (6–10 years):

We support older children with a mix of creative enrichment, supervised homework help, outdoor play, and opportunities for leadership and social growth. Whether they need a calm place after school or fun-filled activities during school breaks, we provide a reliable and caring environment that feels like home.

Each stage is supported with love, patience, and intentional care to help children grow and thrive at their own pace.
